Many of the whale sharks this day were very near the shore and at times swimming in water that was as little as 3 m deep. Most of the time there were within 100-200 meters of the steep shore/coral reef. This was obviously where most of the feeding was going on.At one time as many as 17 sharks could be seen in the area less than 150m radius. They seemed to come near the boat and swimmers out of curiosity.
