Additional comments:
We were on a boat that was anchored near Alotau. One day we looked over the side and saw this guy circling the boat. S/he remained around the boat until night and the next morning appeared again (or had never left). That morning we raised anchor and left Alotau, and this whale shark followed us for a while (45 min?) as we were motoring out of the bay.
