Additional comments:
Remoras were feeding inside the mouth around the area of scarring from the rope injury, possibly indicating internal injury to the mouth area. Leigh Morris (associated with Blue Marine) had a closer look and seemed to think that there was a small amount of material being ejected from this area from time to time; he stated that the individual looked like it had been entangled with ropes for a considerable period, but the injury was now mostly healed. The Whale shark was very relaxed about people being in the water with it, but it swam off after 40 minutes. Leigh provided the sex confirmation and he and Keith Yon independently gave the same length estimate. It was a really awesome encounter.
